Flora Frances Mullen Sullivan
April 16, 2019

Flora Frances Mullen Sullivan, passed away at age 104 on April 16, 2019 at Jeanne Jugan Residence in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. One of seven children, Flora was born on November 4, 1914 in Pawtucket. She was the daughter of Frank H. and Flora Falcon Mullen. She was the wife of the late Colonel Joseph L. Sullivan.

As a child she enjoyed summers at the family beach house in Barrington, RI. She fondly recalled those wonderful times, digging for clams and quahogs with her siblings, and of her mother making chowder, clam cakes and all sorts of seafood dishes with them. She and her siblings would raise their own families and continue to enjoy many years making memories together at the beach.

Flora graduated from Pawtucket East High School (now Tolman High). She met and married Joe and they raised five children, two girls and three boys. Her husband was a career Army officer and served in both World War II and Korea. They spent many years traveling to wherever Joe was stationed, and then settled in North Providence to raise their family.

Flora enjoyed being a stay-at-home mother and taking care of her family. She loved to knit and enjoyed the outdoors, especially sunbathing on many of Rhode Island’s beautiful beaches!

She leaves a legacy of love and laughter for her children, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Flora was predeceased by her loving husband Joe, her son Brian, his wife Cheryl, her sisters Blanche Deland, Pauline Hill and Marie Johnson, and her brothers Gaspard Martin, Frederick and Frank Mullen and their spouses. She is survived by her children Sheila Foley (Thomas), Terrence Sullivan (Katherine), Cornelia Goodrich (John), and Michael Sullivan (Nadine). Flora also leaves behind thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

Our family would like to thank the Little Sisters of the Poor, and the many staff members who treated our mother with love and compassion while she resided with them at Jeanne Jugan Residence.

A funeral mass will take place on Sunday, May 5th at 2:30 PM at Jeanne Jugan Residence, 964 Main Street, Pawtucket. A private burial will follow.
