J. Richard Ely, 63, died December 14, 2011. Born in Biloxi, Mississippi, he was the son of the late Joel and Cecelia Boggan Ely. He is survived by his wife Donna Pilkington, sons Joel Pilkington Ely and Donald Pilkington Ely, and sister Yvonne Reynolds. Mr. Ely was the Director of Planned Giving and Stewardship for the Archdiocese of Boston; he was a member of the Estate Planning Council of RI, Association of Fundraising Professionals, and a founding member of the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning of RI. He was an accomplished guitarist and yoga instructor.

A Mass will be held Saturday, December 17, 10 AM, at St. Sebastian Church, Providence.
