Thelma Aracely Martin, 53, of North Providence passed away peacefully at home with her family on January 12th after a six-month battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala, one of six children of Eliseo and Floridalma Moscoso of Los Angeles.
In addition to her parents, she is lovingly remembered by her husband, partner and best friend of 33 years, Jason Martin, and two adult children, Isabella and Ryan, all of whom cared for her at home.
She is also survived by five siblings, George Moscoso, Yolanda Moscoso, Blanca Michel and Eddy Moscoso, of Los Angeles, and Reina Diaz, of Guatemala City, along with many nieces and nephews. She was also very close to her father and mother-in-law, Ted Martin and Lucille Riccitelli. Her parents and siblings were able to visit and assist with her care, with special recognition for her sister Blanca and her niece Karen, who helped care for her throughout her disease.
Thelma was a kind-hearted and caring person, intensely devoted to her family in Rhode Island, California and Guatemala. She always brought light, love and acceptance to everyone she encountered.
Thelma worked for 22 years in the Medical Records Department of R.I. Hospital, rising to a supervisor position. In her last few months, she was often visited by fellow workers, who always cheered her up and whose warmth and kindness are fondly remembered.
A celebration of Thelma’s life will be held in June, her birth month. Further details will be made available at that time.
Donations in her memory can be made to the Brown University Health Cancer Institute at Rhode Island Hospital.
Services will be at a future date.
Arrangements entrusted to Skeffington Funeral Home and Cremations, 925 Chalkstone Ave, Providence
