Cpl. Carla “Nicky” Hall (USMC), 35, of West Warwick passed away on December 26, 2024. Nicky was the beloved child of Joe Ann (Hall) Spruill of Providence and the late Dean Kelley also of Providence. Nicky leaves behind two brothers Bernard Speaks and Dean Kelley, and a sister Ariana Kelley, a Maternal Grandmother Janie Hall and many Aunts, Uncles, and cousins.
Nicky was always a motivated child, as member of the RI Young Marines Nicky attained the rank of Gunnery Sgt and was awarded “Young Marine of the year”.
A 2007 graduate of Pilgrim High School in Warwick, he was a member of both the Hockey and Football teams. During the summer of 2007 Nicky was called upon by Attorney General Patrick Lynch to assist with a pilot Juvenile Justice program aimed to curb school violence. After High School Nicky was employed at J. Salisbury Construction until moving on to a life-long goal of becoming a Marine.
Nicky joined the United States Marine Corps in 2009, serving as an ordnance specialist on F/A-18’s for VMFA-242 in Iwakuni, Japan. Nicky later went to VMA-214 on the USS Boxer, a Wasp-class amphibious assault ship and attained the rank of Corporal.
While in the Marines, Nicky earned the following medals, ribbons, and awards:
NAVY MERITORIOUS UNIT COMMENDATION, MARINE CORPS GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, NATIONAL DEFENSE SERVICE MEDAL, GLOBAL WAR ON TERRORISM EXPEDITIONARY MEDAL (USS BOXER), GLOBAL WAR ON TERRORISM SERVICE MEDAL, SEA SERVICE DEPLOYMENT RIBBON(3), CERTIFICATE OF COMMENDATION (INDIVIDUAL AWARD),

SHARPSHOOTER RIFLE QUALIFICATION
After serving in the Marine Corps, Nicky continued to support our country by beginning a career at General Dynamics Electric Boat in April of 2017. Nicky started a journey at Electric Boat as a pipefitter, immediately seeking additional responsibilities to display the leadership gained while in the service. Nicky became a Supervisor in December of 2018 and was promoted to an Area Superintendent in May of 2021. In addition to Nicky’s full time job at Electric Boat, Nicky also volunteered for several employee resource groups, including the Employee Queer and Allies League (EQUAL) and served as the President of the Quonset Point Veterans Network.
Nicky had a unique way of lighting up a room whenever present. A person of many talents, always willing to help others, a contagious laugh, kind heart, a tough side when needed, and a kind shoulder to cry on. Nicky will be missed by so many!! May you rest in eternal peace Marine!!!
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 8:00 a.m. from the HILL-SKEFFINGTON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATIONS, 822 Main Street, East Greenwich, RI 02818. Relatives & Friends are invited to attend calling hours Friday from 3-7 pm. Burial will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery Exeter, RI.
