Edward Joseph McNamara (“Eddie Mc”) of Chepachet, with his wife and son by his side, passed peacefully into eternal life on Monday, December 9, 2024.
Born in Providence, RI on June 19, 1941, Eddie was the second oldest child of the late Edward J. and Mildred (Allen) McNamara. A 1959 graduate of LaSalle High School in Providence, Eddie served honorably with the Army Reserves for six years from 1964-1970, where he was commended for his outstanding leadership. He was a gifted photoengraver with Providence Gravure and then went on to work with the Narragansett Bay Commission. After retirement, Eddie found immense enjoyment maintaining a small family farm in Chepachet with ducks, chickens, goats and llamas.
Eddie was a once-in-a-lifetime friend and mentor to countless people offering loving guidance, sage words of wisdom, and an unmatched sense of humor. Eddie loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, relaxing with his dogs by his side and enjoying daily home-cooked meals prepared by the love of his life for 58 years. He was a voracious reader, accumulating a wealth of knowledge worthy of a Jeopardy champion, and an avid bird watcher and feeder.
Eddie is survived by his wife, Maureen (Pandozzi), his three children Kimberley Medenica (Bogdan) of North Smithfield, Kristen Nigriny (John) of Hanover, New Hampshire, and Todd (Kathleen) of Chepachet, his six grandchildren Chance, Logan, Skylar, Jade, Harley and Brooke, his brother Terrence (Sandra) of Johnston, RI, and the late William, Jack and Maureen (Berard). Eddie will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Save the Children Fund, 501 Kings Highway East, Suite 400, Fairfield, CT 06825; the Wolf Conservation Center, P.O. Box 421, South Salem, NY 10590; and the RI Community Food Bank, 200 Niantic Avenue, Providence, RI 02907.
His visitation will be held Tuesday, December 17th from 10am-12pm followed by a prayer service in the SKEFFINGTON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATIONS, 925 Chalkstone Avenue, Providence.
Burial will be private.
