Robert P. Carvalho journeyed to our Lord with dignity, the way he lived, on February 7th, 2023 in the comfort of his home in Rumford, RI to the sweet sounds of Sinatra with family that cherished him surrounding.
Robert was born in Fall River, MA, raised in Tiverton, RI. He was the son of the late Joseph C. Carvalho, and Mary (Oliveira) Carvalho.
He is survived by David A Brennan, life partner for over 37 years, "daughter" Evangeline Brennan, and his “boys” Joshua, Zachary, and Caleb for whom he provided unconditional love and support.
Bob, as he was affectionately known, graduated from Providence College and pursued a career in helping the disabled, working for over 20 years at the LADD School. He had a profound impact on the lives of the children and adults he served. It was not uncommon for him to invite clients to his home where they would be regarded as family, particularly if they did not have a family of their own.
In retirement Bob spent the later part of his life proudly owning and operating The Captain's House Bed & Breakfast in Provincetown, MA. In doing so he had the opportunity to share his kindness, quick wit and humor with guests from all around the world who came to know and love him as family.
Bob cruised through his days with the same fierce passion and speed of the 37 vehicles he owned throughout his lifetime. He was a man of his word and of integrity and he brought great joy to those who knew him. Though we may share in the sadness of his departure let us remember the way he lived with authenticity, dignity, and quick-witted character and carry on in his memory.
Services will be held at St. Margaret's Church, 1098 Pawtucket Avenue, Rumford, RI, where he was a long-time parishioner, on Saturday, February 18th at 10:00 am. Burial will be private.
Arrangements entrusted to the J.F. Skeffington Funeral Home and Cremations, 925 Chalkstone Avenue, Providence.
