Harold L. Goodwin, 90, A veteran of the Korean war and longtime resident of Providence, RI, passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of 53 years to Maureen (Doorely) Goodwin; adored father of Kimberly Perreault (Paul), Michaela Kane (Tom), Kelli Goodwin, John Goodwin and Tracie Goodwin and cherished grandfather of Brendan and Corey Perreault, Carolina and Harrison Courville, and Addison Yoder and many nephew and nieces.
Goody, as he was known to many, was the son of the late Julia (Lusignan) and Robert Goodwin; and brother of the late Raymond Goodwin, Eileen Sajkowski, Robert Goodwin, and Mildred Richards.
Goody was no stranger to hard work to provide for his family. He was an Arborist for many years, until his employment with Amtrak. While working at Amtrak he was also employed part-time with the Providence Civic Center (Dunkin Donut Center) until his retirement.
The US Army recognized Corporal Harold L. Goodwin for his honorable service with a Bronze Star specifically for his heroic actions in the Korean war.
In his retirement, Goody enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid Red Sox fan waiting years for the 2004 world series victory. Goody had an infectious laugh and smile with a great sense of humor. The made-up stories he told to all will live on forever through his children, grandchildren and nieces and nephew.
Calling hours on Monday, October 25th from 5-7pm in the J.F. Skeffington Funeral Home and Cremation, 925 Chalkstone Avenue, Providence. A mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, October 26th at 10:00am in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 463 Benefit Street, Providence followed by interment in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter RI.
