May 22, 1957 – July 17, 2024
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Glenn Michael Oakes, age 67, of Woonsocket, RI, formerly of Ashland and Boston, MA.
Glenn is survived by his beloved partner Glen Scott, his Aunt Shirley, his sisters Linda Gould and Sherry Gidney, and his nephews Sean and Ryan Gidney, Scott and Christopher Gould. He also leaves behind his great-nephews and niece, Delainey and Gavin Gould, and Dylan and Brendan Gidney.
A humble man, Glenn cherished the simple pleasures in life, particularly spending time with his family, especially his nephews, who were an important part of each others lives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David Oakes and Thelma Oakes (Good), his brother Timothy Oakes, his brother-in-law Glenn Gould, and his uncles Freeman L. Good and Robert Good.
Glenn was affectionately known as the “Bob Newhart” of our family, with a dry sense of humor and wit that kept us laughing. His positive outlook and philosophy on life drew people to him.
He found joy in playing the guitar and singing Michael Jackson songs and had a special fondness for watching classic black-and-white films.
Glenn was a graduate of Algonquin Regional High School in Northborough, MA. He earned his CNA certificate and took great pride in his work as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Cushing Hospital in Framingham, MA, where he served for many years. Later, he provided private care and dedicated himself to caring for his mother before her passing in 2023.
Glenn will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but his memory will remain forever in our hearts.
The Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:am on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at First Community Church of Southborough,
137 Southville Road, Southborough, MA 01772
