Helen Purdy (McMahon) , died at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island, on May 26th, 2017 due to complications following cardiac bypass surgery. She was 74.

Helen was born on January 13, 1943 in Sydney Mines, NS Canada to her parents, Arthur and Irene McMahon. Helen was the oldest of the 15 children. She graduated from Southeastern Regional Technical Institute in 1973, as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Helen worked as nurse up until her retirement. She loved working as a nurse; enjoyed her tea and her dog, Ralphie. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed traveling to tournaments all over the states.

Helen is survived by her daughter, Rayleen Silva and her son Frank Purdy, and her remaining 12 brothers and sisters. Helen has 4 grandchildren, Toni, Cassandra, Savannah and Aiden, and 3 great-grandchildren: Cameron, Lily and Colton She is preceded in death by her life partner Leo; her sister Kathy, her brother Frank; and her grandson Connor.

A celebration of life memorial is to be held at her son’s house in Northbridge MA, on June 25th from the hours of 4pm-8pm. For directions or information please feel free to call (508) 266-7377
