Richard O. Currier

Richard O. Currier, died peacefully at home Saturday, September 3, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Carol A. (Pieroni) Currier. Born in Providence, he was a lifelong resident of Pawtucket, and the son of the late Veronica (Clarke) Currier and the late Jackson C. Currier.

He is survived by one son, Michael, and two daughters, Donna and Holly, all of Pawtucket; a brother John, of Boston, MA and five grandchildren, Chelsea, Brenden, Zachary, Ashley and Maegan.

A graduate of Saint Raphael Academy, Richard was a former grocery manager at Star Market for many years. Following that he was a maintenance worker and electrician for the Central Falls School Department. After his retirement he worked part time at Pawtucket Credit Union and provided electrical and plumbing services to many loyal friends and customers. He was also a member in good standing of Local Union 94 AFSCME.

An avid Yankees fan, he enjoyed his trips to New York to see his favorite team play, and was also a collector of Yankees memorabilia.

A mass of Christian burial will be on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 10:00am at Saint Raymond’s Church, 1240 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 from 6pm-8pm at J.F. Skeffington Funeral Home, 925 Chalkstone Avenue, Providence, RI 02908. Burial will be in Mount Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Pawtucket, RI 02860.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Raymond’s Church, 2 Matilda Street, Providence, RI 02904 or to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation, 5526 West 13400 South, #510, Salt Lake City, Utah 84096.
