Joseph F. Gardner, 95, of 72 Tremont Street, died at home on Monday, October 5th. He was married to the late Ellen H. Gardner. Born in Warwick, he was son of the late Joseph Franklin Babcock Gardner and Minnie (Harris) Gardner.

He served in the US Navy during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1945. After the war, he went to work for the City of Warwick Water Department until his retirement in 1982.

He leaves behind his two daughters, Mary Ann Applegate and Phyllis M. Gardner, both of Warwick. He was brother of the late Constance Buchanan, William Gardner, Elsie Gardner, Catherine Gardner, and Lydia McCloud. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, David Applegate, Jr. of Pawtucket and Tia Applegate of Warwick, and Great granddaughterJayni Williams.

Visiting hours in the J.F. Skeffington Chapel, 925 Chalkstone Avenue, Providence on Tuesday from 10-11am with funeral service at 11am. Burial with military honors will be at Brayton Cemetery, Warwick, RI.
